GLOUCESTER, England (AP) England winger Lesley Vainikolo has been ruled out for seven months after surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Gloucester's 29-year-old Tonga-born star was injured in his team's 22-16 Premiership victory over Saracens on Saturday and had surgery in London on Monday.

"Les has undergone surgery and, when it is appropriate, he will begin his rehabilitation process," Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan said on Tuesday. "But we appreciate it will be a long road."
